The province of Trieste is, by its geographical position and cultural and linguistic diversity, a privileged place for study, comparison and research on issues of multiculturalism.

Within the research project  "Multiculturalism and immigration in the province of Trieste", supported by the Trieste-Fund 2007-2009, a group of researchers and professors of the University of Trieste, in collaboration with Italian and foreign colleagues, have started to develop an original model of integration supposed to be adopted in the area of the city. This model will be the result of a deep research and confrontation with the different actors dealing with matters of immigration in the Euroregion ( Slovenia, Austria and Croatia).
